Assistant NOW Online Editor - Suburban Milwaukee

Works closely with the NOW Online Editor to oversee the content of 26 community-based Web sites in suburban Milwaukee.

• Organizes and updates the home page and other areas of the sites daily.
• Assists copy editors in producing stories.
• Produces and creates multimedia, such as video, photo galleries, forums and polls, to enhance news coverage.
• Assists NOW Online Editor with community outreach efforts.
• Works with regional editors to approve user-submitted content and monitor blogs.
• Assists in handling phone calls and emails from the public regarding the NOW sites.
• All other duties as assigned
• Position reports to NOW Online Editor and is based in Waukesha

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, and at least two years newspaper experience, which may include college program. A strong working knowledge of HTML and PhotoShop. Must be able to communicate and work effectively with internal and external customers, staff and supervisor. Must be able to succeed under deadline pressure and to thrive in a continually changing environment.

Public Relations Internship – Bader Rutter & Associates, Brookfield

Internship Overview
Looking for an internship to gain quality, hands-on public relations experience? At Bader Rutter, you’ll be a member of the state’s largest PR agency and work in a fast-paced environment alongside experienced professionals to execute strategic B2B and B2C public relations for major, national brands.

Intern responsibilities include:
o Media pitching
o Material development (media advisories, new releases, newsletter articles, etc.)
o Event coordination
o Media list development and research
o Media coverage monitoring

Qualifications:
o Strong writing and verbal communication skills
o Excellent organizational skills
o Completion of basic PR work with at least a “B” average
o Upper classman status (Junior or Senior)

Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated interest in PR through previous internships or involvement with PRSSA.

Internship Specifics:
September to December 2007 / approximately 15 to 30 hours per week (negotiable)
Paid position - $10.00 / hour
School credit can be earned with this internship
Will need your own transportation

American Indian Chamber of Commerce Internship

The American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin (AICCW) is seeking an intern to work 10 hours per week during the spring semester, which can be renewed for summer and fall. Duties include writing press releases, making some website updates, and planning & organizing of events (e.g., annual meeting in April, golf outing in May, awards banquet in June, reception at Indian Summer in September, and workshops throughout the year). Qualifications: strong writing skills and basic design skills are needed; experience with InDesign and Photoshop a plus. Pay is $8 per hour.
