Northwestern Mutual Life - Writing Intern

Job Description:

This position is 18 hours per week (hours flexible based on department needs).

BASIC FUNCTION:

Administer Service Anniversary program and write service anniversary congratulatory letters for the field force. Monitor weekly bulletins and other field communications to identify potential opportunities to highlight field accomplishments. Research and write congratulatory communications on behalf of the Home Office to Financial Representatives and Managing Partners. Compose other miscellaneous communications of a sensitive nature including testimonials, sympathy letters, illness, retirements and milestones and thank you notes. Research requires knowledge of technical terminology and an understanding of the honors and awards program. Research and gather personal and professional information on field leadership when changes and appointments occur. Assist with the creation and administration of Northwestern Mutual's Awards Home Page containing award requirements. Proofread when required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Sophomore or Junior status majoring in journalism, mass communications, English or other related major. Strong creative writing skills. Ability to think visually as well as verbally to contribute to the creation of the website. High degree of proofreading skills and attention to detail. Strong organizational skills. Grade point average of 3.0 or greater.
